OVERVIEW Ciorras was a young trad band with members from across the country. The group came together in 2010 on the back of the 'Lorg Lunny' sreries on TG4. Over the course of the series, Donal Lunny travelled around the country unearthing musical talents. He invited 8 young musicians to come together and form a group. Ciorras was the resultant group. Those original 8 artists were Ciara Cunningham [Vocals], Tommy Fitzharris [Concertina], Robert Harvey [Flute], James Mahon [Uilleann Pipes], Tadhg O'Meachair [Piano], Dermot Sheedy [Percussion] Tara Breen [Fiddle] and Stephen Rooney [Guitar]. The word Ciorras is the Irish for Cirrus, the cloud formation. In November 2010, the band released its debut album, 'Silver Lining'. In 2012, the band saw some lineup changes with Ciara McCrickard [At First Light] and Francis Ward [Éalú] coming on board. Little is known about the group after this period. Tara Breen went on to play with The Trí-Tones. ‘ 2010 - Band formed - Release of 'Silver Lining' album [18 November] |
