RATHGAR, CO. DUBLIN 2002 -
OVERVIEW
The Chapters is a Dublin-based indie folk/rock band. The group came together in 2002 with a line up of Ross McNally [Vocals, Guitar & Percussion], Simon Eustace [Guitar, Synth & Backing Vocals], Ciaran Fortune [Drums & Percussion], Turlough Gunawardhana [Keyboards, Synths, Percussion, Cha Chas & Backing Vocals] and Michael Murphy [Bass Guitar]. Ross and Simon had played together as teenagers before the band came together. The group quickly established itself as one of the finest purveyors of indie-folk-rock on the local scene. In 2003, the band played the inaugural Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin. The following year saw the band release its debut EP. 'The Indecision Of Arthur O'Malley' EP included 'The Secret Room', 'Decisions', 'Johnson's Court' and 'No Religion'. In 2006. the band made another appearance at the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival before the release of a new EP, 'Four Thorns' at the end of October. The wonderful 'Looking For Love' single was released in June of 2007.

The band went through a difficult time trying to secure a record deal to support the release of their debut album. Eventually, they signed up with The Coronas' 3ú Records. The first release on this imprint was the 'Videotapes' single in May 2009. The single was accompanied by an excellent video which was directed by Simon Eustace and was a finalist at the Irish Music Television Awards. Later that year, the track was featured on an episode of British soap opera, 'Emmerdale'. The band's debut album, 'Perfect Stranger' followed in early June. Further singles were released in support of the album including 'Trying To Get Ahead', 'Moving' and 'Black Room'.

The band suqsequently disappeared from the limelight for a period. When The Chapters reappeared on the scene in 2013, the band had a new lineup, a mew label and a new energy. Simon and Turlough had left the fold with Aoife Ruth [Vocals & Violin], NC Lawlor [Guitar & Slide Guitar] and Conor Deasy [Vocals & Guitar] coming on board. A new album, 'Blood Feels Warm' dropped in May. The band was soon back on the road performing at festivals such as Indiependence in Mitchelstown.
