DUBLIN 1980 - 1982
OVERVIEW
Chant! Chant! Chant! was a post punk band based in Dublin. Formed in 1980, the original line up featured Eoin Freeney [Vocals & Guitar], Robbie Wogan [Guitar], Larry Murphy [Bass Guitar] and Paul Monahan [Drums]. Murphy and Monahan had previously played together as part of The Threat. The band made an instant impact on the local scene walking away with the 'Best Newcomer Award' at the inaugural Stag Hot Press Awards. The band contributed the track 'What Do you Know' to The Boddis EP which also featured The Peridots, Big Self and The Departure.

The following year saw the release of the band's only single. Entitled 'Quicksand', the 7" single was well received and stands the test of time. IN early 1982, Larry decided to leave the band and take up the Double Bass with London-based jazz group, Alto Affair. The band split some time shortly after this.

Paul Monahan and Eoin Freeney went on to play with The End for a short period. Monahan would later go on record electronic music as M101
