OVERVIEW The Chalets was a quirky indie-pop band based in Dublin. Caoimhe had previously played with Palomine. Formed in 2001, the band took its name from the fact that they were sharing chalet accommodation at the All Tomorrow's Parties music festival in East Sussex in 2001. The band made its recorded debut as part of the Road Relish series of split 7" singles. The Chalets' track 'Two Chord Song' featured alongside Neosupervital's 'Sherwood' on the twelfth release in the series which was launched in 2003. Setanta Records went on to sign the band and, in 2004. The quintet released its debut single entitled 'Theme From The Chalets' in March of that year. This was followed in October by the 'Nightrock' EP. 'Nightrocker' was the lead track from this collection which also featured 'Kiss Chasing', 'Lovepunch' and 'David Boring'. With their stock on the rise, 2005 was to be key year for the band. It started brightly with the band walking away with the 'Best Newcomer' trophy at the Meteor Music Awards. After this it was back to the day job and the infectious 'Feel The Machine' was released as a single in June. The band was building up to the release of the debut long player. The album, entitled 'Check In' followed in September. The album was very warmly received and, in January 2006, the album was nominated for the inaugural Choice Music Prize. The band had started gaining interest abroad. Three of their tracks - 'Theme From The Chalets', 'Nightrocker' and 'Sexy Mistake' were used on the 'Grey's Anatomy' TV series.
