OVERVIEW
Catahl Coughlan is a name which has been synonymous with the Irish Indepdent music scene for 30 years. His music has always been described as uncompromising and themes have included politics and relationships.

Hid first musical forray was as the front man of Microdisney. The band was active from about 1980 to 1988. During this period, the band released a number of critically acclaimed albums including 'Everybody Is Fantastic', 'We Hate You South African Bastards' and 'The Clock Comes Down The Stairs'.

When this project came to an end, Coughlan went on for The Fatima Mansions. The band took it's name from the infamous council flats in Dublin. Once again, a body of work was released which was critically acclaimed. Highlights include 'Viva Dead Ponies', 'Valhalla Avenue' and 'Lost In The Former West'. The band was disbanded in the mid-1990s.

This signalled the start of Coughlan's solo career. A series of excellent solo releases followed. 'Grand Necropolitan' was released in 1996 followed by Black River Falls' [2000], 'The Sky's Awful Blue' [2002] and 'Foburg' [2006]. In August 2010, Coughlan released his fifth solo album, 'Rancho Tetrahedron'.
