LURGAN, CO. ARMAGH | 2005 - |
OVERVIEW Captain Kennedy is a folk-rock band based in Lisburn, Co. Armagh. The band was originally formed in 2005 with a lineup of Ciaran Lavery [Vocals], Eamon Lavery [Lead Guitar], Damien McAlinden [Bass Guitar], Stephen McGurk [Drums] and Stephen Kerr [Rhythm Guitar]. The band's number was later increased to seven with the addition of Laura Kerr [Fiddle & Vocals] and Chris Molloy [Keyboards & Vocals]. The band's debut release came in 2006 in the shape of the 'Sweetest Friend' EP. It would be a further three years before the band released the follow up. In January 2009, the 'Factory Whistle Call' EP was launched, which helped further increase the band's reputation. Much of the remainder of the year was spent touring and playing festivals. 2010 was to be a busy year for the band. In April, they released the double A-side single, 'Stretch That Penny / Sweetest Friend'. A month later, 'No Friend Of Mine' was released as a digital download single. However, these were just tasters for the band's debut album which followed in October. Entitled 'See You When I See You', the ten track collection gathered together all of band band's single releases as well as a number of new tracks. 2005 - Band formed 2006 - Release of 'Sweetest Friend' EP 2009 - Release of 'Factory Whistle Call' EP [January] 2010 - Release of 'Stretch That Penny / Sweetest Friend' single [03 April] - Release of 'No Friend Of Mine' single [15 May] - Release of 'See You When I See You' album [11 October] |
