OVERVIEW The Candides is a Irish-Dutch band centred aroung the duo of Fergal Heeney [Vocals, Piano, Hammond Organ & Guitar] and Jessica De Korte [Violin, Glockenspiel & Backing Vocals]. As the names may suggest, Fergal is Irish with Jessica hailing from The Netherlands. The duo came together as a musical project in the early part of 2007. Initially based in Ireland, the pair relocated to Amsterdam in 2009. The band have drawn their inspiration from everyone from The Beatles to Jacques Brel. The debut EP, 'Highlights' was released in 2008 and was well received. 2009 saw the band being nominated for 'Best New Irish Act' on Balcony TV. 2007 - Band formed 2008 - Release of 'Highlights' EP 2009 - Nominated for 'Best New Irish Band' on Balcony TV - Band relocate to Amsterdam
