STRABANE, CO. TYRONE 1964 -
OVERVIEW
Paul Brady is a name which is synonymous with the Irish music scene. He was born on 19 May 1947 in Strabane, Co. Tyrone. Over the intervening years, Brady has left a rich legacy of music both as part of musical groups as well as a solo artist.

He first picked up a guitar at the age of 11 and has not looked back since. He moved to Dublin in 1964 to attend University College Dublin and this was the real start of his musical career. He joined fledgling band The Inmates who morphed in to The Kult. After this Brady played with Rootzgroop, Rockhouse, The Johnstons and Planxty. After Planxty, he worked with Andy Irvine between 1976 - 1978. He then launched his solo career with the release of his debut album 'Welcome Here Kind Stranger'. Brady continued on the folk theme on this record.

However, he soon expanded out from his folk roots. His next releases were more rock-pop in style. He has since released a string of acclaimed albums including 'Hard Station' [1981], 'Back To The Centre' [1985], 'Primitive Dance' [1987] and 'Trick Or Treat' [1991]. Over the years, the quality of Brady's songwriting has received international acclaim with the likes of Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Santana, Dave Edmunds and Tina Turner being amongst his admirers.
