OVERVIEW
Don Baker is a name which is synonymous with Irish blues rock for the past 4 decades. Growing up on Dublin's northside, Don showed a natural aptitude for and love of blues music. He spent much of his 20s criss-crossing Europe, performing wherever he found an opening. He released his first single, 'Inner City' in 1979. In the early 1980s, he joined The Business with whom he recorded a number of singles. He later returned to performing as a solo artist. He released his debut album 'Almost Illegal' in 1989. His second long player, 'Born With The Blues' followed a year later. In 1993, Don revealed another string to his artistic bow when he appeared in the acclaimed film, 'In The Name Of The Father'. Don played the role of IRA man, Joe McAndrew in the feature. The was to be start of Don's acting career and he has since gone on to feature in a number of films and TV series.

Back in the world of the blues, Don went on to release a string of solo records throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Notable amongst these were 'No Regrets' [1996], 'Miss You' [2000] and 'Rain On the Wind' [2006]. After a gap of a number of years, Don returned in 2013 with 'My Songs, My Friends'. The album saw some of finest names on the Irish scene perform some of 'The Don's' best known tracks along with the maestro himself - Sinead O'Connor interpreting 'Cinderella', Liam Ó Maonlaí performing 'Rock Bottom' and Clara Rose making 'Say It To My Face' her own. Don would team up with Clara once again on the 2016 'Bakerrose' reccord. In 2018, he would team up another legend of the Irish Blues scene, Rob Strong.
