DUBLIN | WEXFORD 2007 -
OVERVIEW
The Brilliant Things is a synth-pop band from Dublin. The group was originally formed as a duo of Marie Junior [born Marie Ann Hughes] and Greg French. Marie had mad a stab at pop stardom in 2004 with the release of a cover version of The Mekons track 'I Love A Millionaire'. For the release of this punk-pop classic, Marie Ann went by the stage name Sweet T.

The Brilliant Things came into existence in about 2007. This was a busy year for the band with the release of debut single, 'Something To Say' as well as debut album 'Stronger Than Romeo'. The band rounded off the year with the release of another single, 'Pointless' as a digital download.

The following two years saw the band release further singles - 'Alone' [2008] and 'Rise' [2009]. The following year was a significant one for the band with the addition of two new members. Mia Fitzgerald joined on bass guitar having previously played with bands such as Everyday People, Television Room and Susie Soho. Geoff French, a cousin of Greg, was added on drums.

In October 2011, the band released a self-titled album. The collection gathered together a number of the tracks which had appeared on the 'Stronger Than Romeo' as well as a number of new tracks including 'Dance', 'My Radio' and 'Revolution'.

Since early 2012, the band is back to being a duo of Marie Ann and Greg with Geoff performing with the band on session basis.
