BELFAST 2006 - 2009
OVERVIEW
Boathouse was an alternative rock band from Belfast. The group was formed in 2006 by Gerry McCrudden [Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards, Accordion, Flute & Glockenspiel] and Kieran Hughes [Guitar & Vocals]. The pair had known each othe since childhood and had played together over the intervening years. However, it wsn't until 2006 that the Bothouse project came in to existence. Mick McAuley [Bass Guitar] and Keir Hurley [Drums] were recruited to augment the lineup. Some time later, Amy McGarrigle [Vocals & Guitars] was added to the band. Dave Moore also played trumpet from time to time.

The band's sound was rich and drew comparisons to the likes of Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene. American and Canadian bands had a strong influence on the band. The group released two EPs during its career. The first of these 'Trail Of Ghosts' was released shortly after the band's formation in 2006 which 'What I Remember' following in May 2008.

The band split in May 2009. Amy McGarrigle has gone on to launch a solo career.
