Collapse Or Keep Going E.P. Polar Planet

Something of a minor classic, the debut EP from Kilkenny's Blue Ghost is almost unclassifiable. Equal parts Gorillaz and Republic of Loose, Collapse Or Keep Going floats between jazz, electronica, funk, rock, hip-hop and blues. 'The Altitude' builds with a frantic funky bass line pumping through a punk infused jazz odyssey, 'Float Feet First' is a poignant fusion of summery funk and soul, and the frequently brilliant 'Why Good Guys Die' investigates darker, more Blur-y territory. Only the lack of real vocal power dulls an otherwise fine introduction.

Blue Ghost are a group that have been around so long, rocked so many shows and festivals and had so many people rave about them, it?s hard to believe this is their first formal release. As you?d expect it?s worth the wait. Blue Ghost fuse many different styles, most notably rock, funk and soul with the electro vibe of today. Each of the four tracks set a different tone, a clear sign of durability. Jeremy Hickey and Dave Holland have by now penned an arsenal of excellent tunes, but I feel their secret weapon is their continual 'borrowing' of The Radio vocalist: Caroline Baker. Blue Ghost are one of Ireland?s hottest prospects and this is an extremely accomplished release.
