DUBLIN 2005 -
OVERVIEW
Black Soul Strangers is a Dublin-based rock band. The group came together in the mid-2000s with a line up Sean McDonnell [Vocals], Conor Tobin [Bass Guitar], Barry Gorey [Guitar & Vocals], Brendan O'Mahoney [Drums & Percussion] and Martin Daly [Guitar]. While the make up of the group has evolved over the course of its existence, the most recent lineup is a slimmed down three-piece of Barry Gorey [Guitar & Vocals], Brendan O'Mahoney [Drums & Percussion], Phil Wyer [Guitar, Vocas & Synths]. Phil joined the group after previously playing with with Pedestrian and The Adventures [2].

The band wasted no time in heading into the studio to record some songs. The output of these sessions was the self-titled EP which was released in 2005. The EP which was as much a demo as anything else, featured 'Nothing Comes Easy', 'Neon Light', 'Come Around', 'Under Strain' and 'Dried Out'. The band's first full release came in 2007. The 'Paramount' EP 'Down And Out In Vegas With Amphetamine Psychosis Again', 'Lies' and 'Holes & Bibles' as well as the title track. The first of these was also included on Hot Press' deluxe release, 'The Hotbox' which was made available to subscribers to the magazine.

The band went on to release a number of additional singles - 'Lies' [2009] and 'The Haunting' [2010] before finally release its debut album 'Animate' in July 2010. The 10-track collection was produced by Tom McFall.
