LIMERICK 2010 -
OVERVIEW
Birdthistle is an indie-folk band from Limerick. The band was formed in 2010 and features Eoin O'Siochru [Vocals & Guitar], Barry Creed [Guitar, Mandolin, Keyboards & Vocals], Tadhg Morgan [Bass Guitar], Colum O'Siochru [Drums] and Darragh Carey [Guitar, Mandolin, Keyboards & Vocals]. A number of the members share a history with another Limerick band, Veneer. That band was active for about a decade from the middle of the 1990s to the mid-noughties releasing singles such as 'New Positivity' and 'Bounce' along the way.

Birdthistle's sound has been favourably compare to The Waterboys, Horslips and Mumford And Sons. In he Summer of 2010, group retreated to the studio alongside producer Darragh Dukes [They Do It With Mirrors, Headgear, Wasted Youth Orchestra] in order to record its debut album. The band recorded about 10 tracks during these sessions. In May 2011, Birdthistle released its debut single 'Let It All Go Home' as a digital download. Later that year, the band contributed the track 'Time Laughs' to 'The New Reindeer Age' compilation.

As of early 2012, the band is preparing for the release of its debut album. The record is provisionally entitled 'Time Laughs' which is scheculed for release in April.
