WICKLOW 2015 -
OVERVIEW
Formed in 2015, Birds Of Olympus are a psychedelic/electronica band from Wicklow. The line up features the familiar face of 'Spud' Murphy [formerly of Hybrasil] accompanied by Donal Colohan [Guitar], Derek Byrne [Drums], Darren Joy [Guitar] and Rory Clarke [Bass Guitar]. The band made a fairly quick impression on the local scene and released the track 'Vine Of The Soul' in February 2017. The track served as a taster for the band's performance at the annual SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas which took place in March. This proved to be a significant appearance for the band as they caught the eye of BBC Radio's Steve Lamacq who later played their debut single on BBC Radio 6. The following month saw them perform at Canada Music Week in Toronto. Later that year, the band made its bow at the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin. The group performed an eclectic set at The Workman's Club.

The next period saw the band prepare for the release of its first length EP. That record, the 'Wasi Sabi' EP was launched in April 2018 with a show at The Grand Social in Dublin. The EP gathered together the debut single, Vine Of The Soul' as well as four new tracks in 'Truth Contest', 'Lights Out', 'Money Man' and 'Cinder To The Sun'.
