CELLBRIDGE, CO. KILDARE 1999 -
OVERVIEW
Bell X1 were formed in 1999 after Juniper (featuring Damien Rice on vocals) decided to go their separate ways. Paul Noonan duly switched from drummer to singer and Bell X1 were born. The name Bell X1 comes from the first aircraft to break the sound barrier. The band wuickly enter the studio with Nick Seymour and the album 'Neither Am I' appears shortly afterwards to much acclaim. The band tour heavily in promotion ofd the album. The band spend much of 2001 pursuing individual projects but get back together in late summer to write the songs that are to become 'Music In Mouth'. In January 2004, the band are nominated to represend Ireland in the Eurosonic Rock Festival in Holland.

- The band are chosen to be part of the Heineken Rollercoaster tour with Wilt and Relish
- Bell X1 play the Witnness Cafe at Witnness 2001
2003
- Release of 'White Water Song' [25 April 2003]
- Release of 'Tongue' [11 July 2003]
- Release of 'Muisc In Mouth' [18 July 2003]. The album entered the Irish album charts at Number 15.
- Bell X1 perform at Witnness 2003
- Release of 'Snakes & Snakes' [08 October 2003]
- Bell X1 perform as part of the second series of Other Voices, Songs From A Room which was recorded in St. James Church in Dingle. The series is broadcast on RTE Television in the Spring of 2004.
2004
- Bell X1 are chosen to represent Ireland at the Eurosonic Festival in Holland [08 January 2004]
- Release of 'Alphabet Soup' [15 March 2004]
- Bell X1 play the Heineken Green Energy Festival in support of Josh Ritter [04 June 2004]
- Release of 'Eve, The Apple Of My Eye' [11 June 2004]. The single entered the Irish Singles Charts at Number 18
- Bell X1 play the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival [03 September 2004]
2005
- Bell X1 appear on the soundtrack to 'The O.C.'
- Bell X1 represent Ireland at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas
- Release of 'Bigger Than Me' single [30 September]
- Release of 'Flock' album [14 October]
- Bell X1 perform as part of the fourth series of Other Voices, Songs From A Room which was recorded in St. James Church in Dingle. The series is broadcast on RTE Television in the Spring of 2006.
2006
- Bell X1 are nominared for the inaugural Choice Music Awards for their album 'Flock' [January]
- Release of 'Flame' single [10 March]
- Release of 'Napster Live Session' EP [24 July]
- Release of 'Rocky Took A Lover' single [28 August]
2007

2008
- Bell X1 are nominated in the Best Irish Pop Act category in the Meteor Ireland Music Awards. They are also nominated for the Best Irish Live Performance for their Malahide Castle concert.
- Bell X1 perform 'Rocky Took A Lover' on the David Letterman Show [17 March]
- Brian Crosby decides to leave the band to concentrate on production work
- Marc Aubele [Keyboard & Guitars] & Rory Doyle [Drums] are drafted into the band for their stint in Vicar Street [November]
2009
