OVERVIEW Band On An Island is a group of like-minded musicians from Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Fronted by Ciaran Dwyer, the group was formed in 2003. The current line up also features Conal Dempsey [Guitar], Andrew O'Donnell [Bass Guitar], Gary Wickham [Drums], Eimear Dempsey [Violin], Robert Mockler [Drums], Stephen Connelly [Keyboards] and Tim Crowley [Guitar, Pedal Steel & Vocals]. An earlier lineup also featured Gavin Elsted on guitar. The band released its first single, 'The Burning Shoulder' in September 2007. The lead track was backed by 'Calm' and 'Vigilante Tantrum'. The band then set to work on recording its debut album. 'The Sound Sweep' was released in November 2009 on The Firstborn Is Dead Records. The collection included the single as well as tracks such as 'Athgarvan' and 'The Last (Free)man Standing'. Another track from the album, 'Back Disco' was released on 7" vinyl in May 2010.
