OVERVIEW Carol Anthony is a pop singer from Cork. Although she now trades as Havana, she started her career using her own name. She was born into a large family - the youngest of 9 children At the age of 3, she enrolled in Montfort Stage School. She always had an interest in singing and, in 2003, she came to the attention of Universal Music with whom she signed. In March of 2004, Carol released her debut single 'Showdown'. Her next release, 'Brass In Pocket' was her interpretation of The Pretenders classic. 2005 was shaping up to be a huge year for the pop star. She received a Meteor Award nomination in the Best Irish Pop Act category. In February, she released her third single, 'Wrong'. However, with momentum building tragedy struck. She suffered a bad fall while horse-riding which left her in hospital for eight weeks. It was feared that she may not walk again. However, she fought her way back to fitness.
