OVERVIEW
Ashley Sheehan & The Mute was a rock band based in Waterford city. Formed in the early 2000s, the line up featured Ashley Sheehan [Vocals, Guitar, Banjo, Harmonica, Mandolin, Piano, Cornett], Fintan Kavanagh [Fiddle, Vocals & Guitar], Aaron Mulhall [Drums & Vocals], Brian Harty [Bass Guitar], Jay Barden [Keyboards], Nookie [Guitar]. The band build up a loyal following in the Waterford area but the they also played in Dublin. Notable appearances included the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in 2005 and 2006.

2006 was a significant year for the band. They came second in the Murphy's Live competition. That year also saw the band unleash a debut double A-Side single. This release include the tracks 'Victoria' and 'I've Got Something You Like'. By the following year the band had begun working on their debut album, 'Danse Macabre'. However, it is not known if this was ever completed and released.

Ashley Sheehan, Fintan Kavanagh, Aaron Mulhall and Jay Barden went on to form Fighting Spiders some years later. Barden also played with The Lullabees and Shane Barry & The Distractions before tragically passing away in 2009.
