CORK | 2006 - |
OVERVIEW Armoured Bear is a band from Cork, fronted by Anthony Noonan. Anthony (or Anto) has a long history on the West Cork scene having played with bands since his early teens. These included Catcher And The Rye, Chucklehead and Lerner. He also performed as a solo artist. He released his debut solo album 'Faster' under the Anto moniker. He went on to record his second album as a solo artist. However, during the recording process, Anthony became convinced that the album was more suited to a full band. Therefore, he decided to put his solo career on hold and formed Armoured Bear. Anthony's new collaborators included Liam Ahern [Guitar], John Fitzgerald [Bass Guitar & Vocals], Laurie Hedger [Drums], Graham McCarthy [Guitar & Vocals], Seamus Matthews [Keyboards & Vocals] and Dave Coughlan [Drums]. The first release under the new name was the 'Imagination' single which was released in October 2006. The lead track was backed with 'Honeycomb Moon' and '... With Grace'. The latter of these two B-Sides was also included on the 'Magic Nights At The Lobby Bar' compilation. However, the track was credited to Anto. Armoured Bear released a second single, 'Fall' in September 2008. The release co-incided with the band's appearance at the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival. The following month, the band released its debut album 'Honeycomb Moons'. 2006 - Release of 'Imagination' single [20 October] 2008 - Release of 'Fall' single [12 September] - Armoured Bear perform as part of the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin [14 September] - Release of 'Honeycomb Moons' album [03 October] 2009 - Armoured Bear perform as part of the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin [16 - 18 October] |
