Irish rock band An Emotional Fish have found
themselvs caught up in the current political
turmoil in Italy. Top Italian singer Vasco
Rossi has recorded a version of their best
known song "Celebrate", adding
new lyrics about the current political corruption
in his homeland. Re-titled Gli Spari Spari ("The Shots Above"), the single is currently at Number One in the Italian charts having shifted over 150,000 units in the first week of its release. It is believed the title can be interpreted as meaning "The Consequences" of the actions taken by politicians and the judge who has undertaken to expose them. Judge Antonio Di Pietro has launched a nationwide operation called Mani Pulits (Clean Hands) to bring to justice all corrupt politicians and pulic officials guilty of taking bribes from the Mafia. An Emotional Fish are astonished by their unwitting involvement, but are pleased with their song being at Number One. "We are happy for Vasco, but to find ourselves on the right side of the law in these turbulent times is an added bonus," said manager Aidan Cosgrave. The band are currently putting the finishing touches to their second album, which will be released in April. Its working title is "If God Was A Girl" |
