DUBLIN 2008 -
OVERVIEW
Alarmist is a four-piece instrumental rock band based in Dublin. The group was formed in 2008 and features four multi-instrumentalists in its ranks - Elis Czerniak [n/a], Neil Crowley [n/a], Osgar Dukes [Drums], Barry O'Halpin [n/a]. Elis Czerniak is also a member of Halves whose album 'It Goes, It Goes (Forever And Ever)' was nominated for the Choice Music Prize. Osgar has performed with The Chakras. The band creates layered sounds which combine electronic, ambient and more traditional rock elements.

The band quickly made an impression on the local live scene. In spite of the proliferation of instrumental bands, Alarmist was seen as different. This saw them being identified as "Ones To Watch For 2011" by State.ie.

In August 2011, the quartet released its self-titled debut EP. The 5-track collection included 'Vitamin Saturday', 'Carpark Showdown', 'Giraffe Centre', 'Clapper' and 'Bathtime For Squid'. Later that year, the band performed at the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin. It was another two years before the band's next release. The 'Pal Magnet' EP was released in November 2013. In March 2015, the band released a new track 'Morning, Kepler' as part of the 'Seven Quarters' series of split 7" releases. Somadrone contributed 'Another Time' on the flipside. 'Morning, Kepler' was the first cut to be released from the band's debut album, 'Popular, Demain' which followed in November of the same year.
