BEAUFORT & KILLORGLIN, CO. KERRY 2002 - 2005
OVERVIEW
Alanna was formed as a five piece in the winter of 2002. The group consists of four brothers, Anthony, Sean, Brendan and Patrick O'Connor with vocalist
Catherine Teahan from Killorglin. Alanna are based in Co. Kerry. The name 'Alanna' comes from the Irish language which translates to 'my love'.

Alanna has a very distinctive sound, bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary Irish music. The music is exciting and could be classed as
their own Celtic style. The truly nice aspect is the bands appeal to such a widely aged audience. They have toured extensively around Ireland and have also toured Europe and the USA promoting their debut album, 'Under the Open Sky'. From Jan - July 2004 Alanna recorded their second album, titled
³Blurring the line², which was released in the INEC Killarney on 11th, December 2004.

2005 is turning out to be Alanna's busiest year to date. Beginning in March, Alanna was invited to Play in Sarajevo as part of the St. Patricks Day
festivities. Tainiste Mary Harney T.D was on an official visit to Sarajevo and she joined an audience of over 1,000 of military and political personnel. The band have been invited back, by their sponsors Malev Airlines, later on in the year when they will perform at a huge outdoor
festival in the city. They are also plans to tour Croatia and Serbia at this time so it looks like Alanna will be spending a lot of their time on the roads of Europe over the next few years.

Alanna have performed at such festivals as The Cork Jazz Festival, The Bantry Mussel Festival, The Rose of Tralee. They have also performed in such
venues as Whelan¹s of Wexford st, Matt Molloy¹s, Westport, The Granary, Killarney [where the group performed for a summer season] and also performed
at many other corporate events throughout the country, such as the Chinese Premieres visit to Ireland.

It’s all over for Alanna

THE members of hugely popular Kerry band Alanna have decided to go their separate ways after almost five years of performing together.

Although they are reluctant to discuss the cause of the split, three members of the group, Catherine Teahan, Anthony O’Connor and Sean O’Connor, are determined to continue to perform on an individual basis.

The talented musicians, based in the Beaufort and Killorglin area, have thrilled audiences locally as well as everywhere from Chicago to Sarajevo with their unique blend of contemporary Irish music.

Now they are determined to continue entertaining fans in their new incarnations, according to Catherine.

"I would like to take this opportunity on their behalf to thank most sincerely everyone who has supported us during the five years together as Alanna.

"We want to thank the musicians who performed with us, our families, loved ones and friends – a huge thank you to all," she said.
