Snowball Down RIP

Rising Dublin band A-House prove, in a matter of weeks, that their debut single, 'Kick Me Again Jesus' was no fluke. This latest slab of riotous garage music is even better. Check the Gig Guide for dates over here in June. They should be devastating live.
Snowball Down RIP

Barbed with energy and searing emotion,'Y.O.U' screams out the stuff of which classics are made. Although it's only a matter of weeks since they fired out their first single 'Kick Me Again Jesus', A House have been big news in their native Dublin for quite some time. Straight out of garageland, this bass, drums and guitars quartet stitch piledriving rhythms with near perfect pop and keep the whole thing short, sharp and ferociously fast. With a vocal that veers between desire and contempt, 'Y.O.U' is the sound of jealously, abuse and indefinite destruction. But it's spared from any hint of acne angst by the furious pace and gut-grabbing sneer of Dave Couse's vocal. Less remarkable, but still better than most, is 'Y.O.U' 's double A-sided twin 'Snowball Down'. A simple song built around ringing guitars and a raucous drumbeat. Stunningly straightforward but gloriously effective, A House should be an avalanche of a live experience.

It never ceases to amaze me how massive talent like Dave Grouse (sic) and A House so often fail to translate into gigantic worldwide record sales. 'Without Dreams' is slower and more minimalist than hitherto. It's more low key than usual as well. Still, though A House's playful zest for life shines through every thoughtful and heartfelt word. And is that Sinead O'Connor on track four, 'Broken'?
