OVERVIEW A Band Called Wanda is a four piece group from Galway. The line up includes four multi-instrumentalists in Brendan Dolan, Darren Concannon, Maidhc Ó'hÉanaigh and Derek Naughton. The band came together in 2004 when Brendan and Darren had a chance encounter and decided to make music together. Maidhc and Derek joined some time later. The band released its debut EP in 2005. The collection included 'Cowboy Song', 'Morning Blindness', 'You're So Kind', 'Rainy Day Kev' and 'To Close To Call'. The following year, the band performed as part of the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin. The band also contributed the track 'You're So Fine' to the 'Hard Working Class Heroes '06' compilation published by HMV. The band independently released two further EPs - 'Broken Bones' in 2007 and 'ABCW Live' in 2009. However, it was in April 2010 that the group released their first real debut EP entitled 'Roses Are Still Red'. The 6-track collection garnered excellent reviews from the critics. 2004 - Band formed 2005 - Release of 'The First' EP 2006 - Band perform as part of the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin 2007 - Release of 'Broken Bones' EP 2009 - Release of 'A-BCW Live' EP 2010 - Release of 'Roses Are Still Red' EP |
